Communion Meditation – Serving You with Thanks

Sometime during the week of Thanksgiving Day it is likely you were invited have been invited to a holiday banquet.

Did you notice how the banquet service proceeded? Were children served first? Was it served buffet style, a` la carte, or was it snatch-and-grab everyone for himself or herself?

Traditionally communion was served family style. At the Last Supper Jesus took the role of the patriarch. In I Corinthians 7:23-24 we read: (23) For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, (24) and when he had given thanks he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

As we celebrate communion let us remember it is still served family style with Jesus as the Host.
