Harlot – Gomer – Ever consider how many women God used who had questionable pasts?  In Jesus’ lineage we find Rahab and Bathsheba.

Object lesson – God made an object lesson out of the marriage of Hosea.  Maybe you feel like your family life is an object lesson teaching what not to do.  In Hosea’s family a lesson in humility and undying love was taught.

Search of God – As Hosea searched for Gomer so God sought Israel.

Enticement – Gomer was invited to come back to her bridegroom.  In marriage counseling couples are asked to go back and relive the early days of their courtship to recall the joy of love and marriage.

Admonition – Gomer was welcomed back under the condition that she would remain faithful.  There is a price to be paid for those that would return to God.

Exemplary Story – At a college for ministers students and visitors knew that they would be greeted by Peggy.  She had one of the sweetest personalities in the world.  We all wondered how she came to be married to Bill, the stern Dean of the school. If you asked Peggy how she met and married Bill she would tell you, “Just as it says in the Bible, I was a stranger, and he took me in.”
