Prayer:  God, may we both give and receive the care needed to pass safely along the way.

Thought for the day: The Samaritan needed no title or fanfare to serve his God.

Monday, February 9, 2015

Luke 10:42 Only one thing is needed.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.

Prayer: O Jesus, help us to make time with you our best choice of the day.

Thought for the day: All times are good times for prayer time with God.

Luke 11:2 He said to them, “When you pray, say; “Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.”

Prayer: Our Father, we your children honor your name.

Thought for the day: If God is our father, then we replaces us-and-them.

Wednesday, February 11, 2015

Luke 11:13 If you then though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, ho much more will you Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

Prayer:  O God, we are grateful to you for sending the Spirit as Comforter.

Thought for the day: God is even more committed to your care than a soccer-mom is committed to seeing her child win.

Luke 11:20 But if I drive out demons by the finger of God, then the kingdom of God has come to you.

Prayer: Jesus, we find hope in knowing no power of evil can resist your command.

Thought for the day:  Like spices that flavor our food are spirits that set the mood at home and abroad.

Luke 11: 29  As the crowds increased, Jesus said, “This is a wicked generation.  It asks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.”

Prayer: O God, forgive us when we become sign seekers.

Thought for the day:  When Jonah found his remote control, he changed the channel.

Luke 12:7 Indeed the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Prayer:  O God, creatures great and creatures small you made them all.

Thought for the day:  God must have loved birds to make 9,956 species of birds.
