A Verse by Verse Life of Christ in Luke’s Gospel — Week Ten

Week Ten

Note: Luke 19:28 marks the conclusion of the period of Jesus’ ministry. Luke 19:29 marks the beginning of the period of consummation.

Sunday, March 8

Luke 18: 27 Jesus replied, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”
Prayer: O Jesus, may we learn to live with you within the power of possibility.
Thought for the day: Try rewriting the impossible to read: I’m possible.

Monday, March 9

Luke 18: 42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight, your faith has healed you.”
Prayer: God, may your Son restore to us our faith vision.
Thought for the day: Faith lays the foundation for many blessings.

Tuesday, March 10

Luke 19:5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”
Prayer: Jesus, may we be ready for your visitation this day.
Thought for the day: If Jesus would go home with Zacchaeus, then he would go home with you.

Wednesday, March 11

Luke 19:26 He replied, “I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away.”
Prayer: O God, may we fulfill our responsibilities to you faithfully.
Thought for the day: One of the rewards of good leadership is more responsibility.

Thursday, March 12

Luke 19:30 Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it , you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.
Prayer: Jesus, we remember with awe how humility and nobility marked your final entry into Jerusalem.
Thought for the day: The colt received its master even without being broken-in.

Friday, March 13

Luke 19:45 Then he entered the temple area and began driving out those who were selling.
Prayer: O Jesus, may we set in order this, your house to make it a house of prayer.
Thought for the day: When the opportunity to worship presented itself, Jesus was no procrastinator.

Saturday, March 14

Luke 20:8 Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.”
Prayer: O Jesus, as we read of your word and works we know you were sent of God.
Thought for the day: The quality of the envelope foretells the importance of its message.
