Genesis 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Prayer: O God, may your Spirit bring order out of the chaos of our lives.

Thought for the day: A puzzle is but a heap of interlocking pieces awaiting assembly.

Monday, May 11

Psalm 104:30 When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.

Prayer: O God, may you renew our earth, our communities, our lives by your Spirit.

Thought for the day: A single rain shower in the desert brings an eruption of new life.

Tuesday, May 12

Psalm 51:11 Do not cast me from your presence, or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Prayer: God, our Heavenly Father, keep us in the family circle of your love.

Thought for the day: The lifeless sand dollar on the seashore one was alive with its spirit.

Wednesday, May 13

Job 34: 14, 15 If it were his intention and he withdrew his spirit and breath all mankind would perish together and man would return to the dust.

Prayer: God, our Heavenly Father, you are the giver of the Spirit of Life.

Thought for the day: If the earth were to deviate from its orbit by only a few degrees much of the life on the planet would end.

Thursday, May 14

Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Prayer: God, send your Spirit into our hearts that we may obey you more perfectly.

Thought for the day: Obedience is not a chore for a loving child.

Friday, May 15

Zechariah 4:6 So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.”

Prayer: O God, how awesome are your works.

Thought for the day: When you let go and let God, you let the Spirit work.

Saturday, May 16

Isaiah 63:10 Yet they rebelled, and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy and he himself fought against them.

Prayer: God, may we never bring grief to you.

Thought for the day: A mother’s tears of grief can move a child in ways no discipline could effect.
