Communion Meditation — I Peter 2:24 and Childhood Lessons

Children may teach parents lessons learned in youth and forgotten. One such lesson is the lesson that some hurts require the touch of love to be healed.

Watch a child like the youth minister’s two year old, Blake, running to his mother with a “boo-boo.”  The deep hurt he suffers can be healed only by the loving touch of his mother. With her one kiss the tears stop and the healing occurs.

In our adult lives there are often deep hurts inflicted by sin.  For their healing we need the loving touch of our Savior, Jesus.  By love his wounds heal our wounds, the wounds of sin that nothing but love can heal.

As we approach the Lord’s Table today let us remember this scripture:

I Peter 2:24: He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness, by his wounds you have been healed.
