Week Forty-Five – Verse by Verse Devotional Series – Psalm 65

During November we will study a few Psalms that give praise and thanks to the Lord.

Sunday, November 8

Psalm 65:3 When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for coming to our rescue in our hours of need.
Thought for the day: To be forgiven is to leave the recyclables in the trash bin never to be seen again.

Monday, November 9

Psalm 65:4 Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts! We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple.
Prayer: O God, whether it be in spirit or in body we rejoice to be in your house
Thought for the day: God knows best how to roll out the red carpet for all who would come to God’s house.

Tuesday, November 10

Psalm 65:5 You answer us with awesome deeds of righteousness, O God our savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and the farthest seas,
Prayer: Jesus, your answers to our prayers are awesome.
Thought for the day: The wireless connection to God through prayer is never down.

Wednesday, November 11

Psalm 65:8 Those living far away fear your wonders; where morning dawns and evening fades you call forth songs of joy.
Prayer: O God, it is true: You woke us up this morning and set us on our feet.
Thought for the day: The harsh blows of life may break our fragile happiness, but joy remains intact.

Thursday, November 12

Psalm 65:9 You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it.
Prayer: O God, in this season of harvest we affirm that abundant goodness comes from you.
Thought for the day: In the season of harvest the farmer’s faith finds its reward.

Friday, November 13

Psalm 65:11 You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.
Prayer: O God, with every passing day we have seen the bounty of your blessings
Thought for the day: The changing of the seasons reminds us of the miracle of sowing and reaping.

Saturday, November 14

Psalm 65:13 the meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing.
Prayer: God, our Father, we give our thanks for the food and drink you so amply supply.
Thought for the day: Watch a cow lick her newborn calf as it nurses, and you will understand joy surrounds us.
