Sunday, June 19

Psalm 103:13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.

Prayer: O God, our Heavenly Father, we your children give thanks for your tender compassion.

Thought for the day: The father seahorse carries its young.

Monday, June 20

Matthew 6:9 This then is how you should pray, “Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name.”

Prayer:  Jesus, by your introduction we come to the Father in prayer.

Thought for the day:  The right introduction by the right person can make a world of difference.

Tuesday, June 21

Galatians 4:6, 7 Because you are sons God sent the Spirit who calls out, Abba, Father.  So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir.

Prayer: Almighty God, thanks be to you for sending us your Spirit in Christ.

Thought for the day:  As heirs of God why should we be poor and allow our spiritual blessings to be escheated?

Wednesday, June 22

Psalm 68:5 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.

Prayer:  O God, you know best how to step into our lives when there is no one to step in for our sakes.

Thought for the day:  In faith we are never far from the family of God.

Thursday, June 23

Proverbs 3:11, 12 My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

Prayer:  Jesus, shepherd of our souls, keep us ever on the pathway to life.

Thought for the day:  Often short-term failures are the path to long-term success if we persist.

Friday, June 24

Philippians 4:20 To our God and father be glory for ever and ever.

Prayer:  Almighty God, for blessings small and great we owe you endless praise.

Thought for the day:  Good hearted fathers relish the success of their children.

Saturday, June 25

John 14:6, Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.  If you really knew me, you would know my father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.

Prayer:  Jesus, thank you for showing us the love of the Father.

Thought for the day:  The father we know through Jesus is a loving father.  What sort of father do we know through you?
