Sunday, December 4

Luke 2: 11, 12 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.  This will be a sign to you:  You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.

Luke 1:19, 20 The angel answered “I am Gabriel I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you [Zechariah] and to tell you his good news. And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their proper time.”

Prayer:  Lord God, forgive us when we have not silenced ourselves to hear you.

Thought for the day: The more we quiet ourselves the better we prepare ourselves to hear.

Tuesday, December 6

Luke 1:30,31 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.  You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.”

Prayer:  Lord God, we give thanks for the many announcements of good news you have sent to us.

Thought for the day: Who is grateful when they hear the words, “This is just a test of the Emergency Broadcast System”?

Prayer:  Lord God our Heavenly Father, we give thanks that you had a plan for our salvation long ago.

Thought for the day: Bethlehem Ephrathah may not have had a stop light, but it did have a cross walk for safety.

Thursday, December 8

Matthew 1:20 But after [Joseph] had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

Prayer: Lord God, we praise you for bringing your Son into our world.

Thought for the day: A travel itinerary made by God is on the right time.

Friday, December 9

Ezekiel 34:23,24 I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd.  I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them.  I the Lord have spoken.

Prayer:  O God, we do so need your tending and leading day by day.

Thought for the day: The nobility of a shepherd is found in the shepherd’s heart.
