In honor of Fathers’ Day our devotional series this week focuses on the fatherhood of God.
Sunday, June 18
Matthew 6:9 This then is how you should pray, “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, on this day we honor you as the source of life, health, joy, and love.
Thought for the day: True fatherhood is a badge respected throughout the world.
Monday, June 19
Ps 103: 13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him, for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we praise your endless compassion.
Thought for the day: Compassion comes fully equipped with perpetual updates.
Tuesday, June 20
Ps 68:5,6 A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. God sets the lonely in families, he leads forth the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun scorched land.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we thank that you have never turned away a child in search of your love
Thought for the day: The family of God is made for the lonely and brokenhearted.
Wednesday, June 21
Ephesians 4:5, 6 There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, you have brought us all together as kindred.
Thought for the day: God’s children are alike.
Thursday, June 22
John 6:39, 40 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, we give thanks for Jesus’s faithfulness.
Thought for the day: God’s inventory of love is infinite.
Friday, June 23
I John 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, knowing your goodness and love we would be children of no one else.
Thought for the day: A child of God bears a name that never needs changing.
Saturday, June 24
Matthew 6: 32, 33 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, you do know our need better that we know them.
Thought for the day: The potter’s children have no need of paper plates.
