Week Fifty-two — Verse by Verse Devotional Series — The Ancestry of Jesus — John 1: 14

John 1:14 The word became flesh and lived for a while among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, in all your dealing with the poor, sick, and afflicted we find godly grace and truth.

Thought for the day: The songwriter said, “Today I walked where Jesus walked along life’s narrow pathway.”

John 1:1, 2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the word Was God. He was with God in the beginning.

Prayer: Almighty God, Our Heavenly Father, you gave the greatest gift of all, when you gave your son.

Thought for the day: Jesus is the original heaven-sent missionary who would bring a message to us where we are.

Colossians 1:15, 16 he [Christ Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created:  things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all thing were created by him and for him.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, when we have seen you and your wondrous works,  we know the love of God.

Thought for the day: The songwriter said, “’Give me thy heart’, said the Father above. No gift so precious to him as our love.”

Philippians 2: 6, 7 [Christ Jesus] Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, you reached way down to lift us up.

Thought for the day: You are never far from the love of heaven.

I John 1:1, 2 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.

Prayer: Lord God, we give thanks for the faithful apostles of Jesus who gave the Gospels to all generations to follow.

Thought for the day: When you want some accurate news  from some dependable reporters try reading the Gospels.

Hebrews 1: 1, 2 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, in an hour when a prophetic word is needed we give thanks for the sermons you preached in word and deed.

Thought for the day: Some who fret about the way things will be never stop to listen to the way things are.

Revelation 22:13 I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, knowing that life begins and ends with you we place our trust in you.

Thought for the day: Many who believe they have the last word rarely do.
