Week Three — Verse by Verse Devotional Series — John’s Gospel — John 3: 16, 17

John 3: 16, 17 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only So, that whoever believes I him shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Prayer:  Lord God, may we never forget your great love for all your children.

Thought for the day:  Why do some find it so difficult to love those who God dearly loves?

I Peter 1:23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable through the living and enduring word of God.

Prayer:  Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, you have given us hope for life anew.

Thought for the day:  With the help of God we can do it over again.

I John 5:18 We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him.

Prayer:  Lord Jesus, in you we find our eternal security and hope.

Thought for the day:  The benefits of a faith life insurance policy outweigh the benefits of a term life insurance policy or a whole life insurance policy.

Romans 6: 3, 4 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?  We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Prayer:  Jesus, we give thanks for new life in you.

Thought for the day: Fresher than new-car perfume is a new life.

Ephesians 1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.  Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession to the praise of his glory.

Prayer:  Lord God, we give thanks for the Spirit of Christ that gives us comfort and hope.

Thought for the day:  Though it seems sweet, the fellowship of the lodge is temporal; but the sweet fellowship of the Spirit is eternal.

Jeremiah 31: 33, 34 This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord.  “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts.  I will be their God, and they will be my people.  No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of the to the greatest,” declares the Lord.

Prayer:  Ah, Lord God, by the revelation of the gospel we have come to know your love.

Thought for the day:  Practical knowledge best serves hobbies and chores, but personal knowledge best serves relationships.

Matthew 5: 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

Prayer:  Lord God, we would put on the purity of Christ that in him we may see you.

Thought for the day: To find your shooting star in the night sky you must know where to look.
