Week Four — Verse by Verse Devotional Series — The Gospel of John — John 4: 52, 53


John 4: 52, 53 When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, “The fever left him yesterday at the seventh hour.”  Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.”  So he and all his household believed.

Prayer:  Lord God, we believe you have only to speak and heaven and earth shall obey your command.

Thought for the day: Sometimes Cortana knows what you ask, and sometime not.


Ecclesiastes 3: 1, 2 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot.

Prayer:  Lord God, all our days and all our hours rest in your hands.

Thought for the day:  When the hourglass has run out, someone must turn it over.


Psalm 95: 7, 8 For he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah; as you did that day at Massah I the desert.

Prayer: Lord God, may you forgive our stubbornness when we have resisted your leading.

Thought for the day: Flexible trees withstand hurricane winds.


Acts 10: 34, 35 Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.

Prayer: Jesus, we thank you for making a place for us in your kingdom.

Thought for the day: Some passports are more costly than others.


Malachi 4: 2 But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.

Prayer: O Jesus, we give thanks for all the times you have healed us.

Thought for the day: Even the wound of a tiny splinter can prove fatal if left unattended.


2 Peter 1: 19 And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we have only to read the Gospels to know that you brought light wherever you went.

Thought for the day: For a healthy dose of natural vitamin D you need sunlight.


Romans 5:6 You see at just the right time when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, when we think of where we could have been, we know we owe our rescue to you.

Thought for the day: Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) respond before the patient reaches an emergency room.
